Just visited Gulangyu (a small island next to Xiamen, China) and really loved the place, even though I had only visited there twice in one week.

The streets on Gulangyu are very complex. Besides garbage truck and police car, people can't even ride bikes on the island. There are some electric buses for tourists who can't walk too long. So the air is very clean and the neighborhood is very quiet in Gulangyu, due to no motor vehicle on the island.
Normally pedestrian can walk by themselves. When it comes to load some heavy goods, manpower hauls everything.
There are lots of ancient houses on Gulangyu, therefore lots of construction sites. You can see this kind of manpower carrying materials everywhere on the island.
Of course gas delivers by manpower too.
A place has no motor vehicle it's very interesting for a tourist like me, don't know what local people would think...

廈門的側邊車
我對側邊車(機車旁加掛一個小車廂)一直有一種莫名的喜愛，也許是因為台北沒有所謂的合法側邊車吧。我覺得側邊車既有機車的輕快方便又有汽車的平穩舒適(和一般機車比較起來)。有人說騎乘側邊車很危險的，稍一過彎不順就會整輛車翻將過來。其實哪種機動車不危險呢? 要怪也該怪騎乘的人吧? 為何有的人從不出車禍有的人常常出車禍? 事在人為吧。
這次在廈門發現了很多很多側邊車，大部分都像這樣蓋有年矣的老舊軍車樣，平均一天在街上可以看到三輛以上…
當年廈門和金門打來打去的時候，廈門也算個一級前線吧。
警察也用側邊車，和警車比起來真是環保經濟又威風。
如果機車左方加一個小小輔助輪會不會更穩些呢?
其實台灣最應該開放側邊車的進口或生產了，看看滿街三貼四貼甚至五貼的機車，如果有側邊車至少旁邊的車廂裡還可以放兩個小孩，合法又安全，何樂不為?
